As I post this podcast, talk is everywhere in the U.S. and Europe about a potential ceasefire in Ukraine — the first step, everyone hopes, to a permanent settlement of the war with Russia.

Much has been said about the cost of this war, both monetarily, in terms of lives, and overall destruction.

If peace comes, the cost of rehabilitating and reconstructing Ukraine will be immense. In this podcast I examine some of the staggering costs that most Americans are not even aware of. Yet they will easily outstrip the cost of the war itself. And in some cases these challenges will take a generation or more to surmount.
